The number of international students seeking to further their education overseas is now at unprecedented levels. Foreign students travel to UK colleges to learn English and take qualifications, which can be put straight to work in careers or used as a bridge to further studies.

They come to study in the UK because British education is respected throughout the world for its quality and consistently high standards. The added attraction of the UK is that outside the classroom it offers a very varied cultural and social life. It is also a safe and welcoming place for international visitors.

Unfortunately, while the number of international colleges is growing at a rapid rate, the unethical behaviour of some colleges can taint the good work of other institutions and cause major difficulties for students, parents and sponsors.

There are colleges that bring potential students into the UK, but whose main aim is to become an illegal economic immigrant. Other institutions provide students with a poor experience or are not prepared to cater for the requirements on international students.

Therefore, quality, resources, student support and ethics are all important questions that students need answered to gain a truer picture of what an international college is really like.

AICtv aims to take some of those uncertainties away by producing a website that only includes colleges which have gone through an approved accreditation process.
